Biography

The epic of Shai Hulud - in reference to Dune's god-ver, Frank Herbert's monumental work - began between 1996 and 1997 in a skeud shop in Pompano Beach (Florida). Oliver Chapoy and Matt Fox (guitars) won their first contract by placing orders to the Revelation Records label. The departure of the singer Damien Moyal (future Morning Again) before the signature lacks to question everything, but the band manages to quickly find him a substitute of choice in the person of Chad Gilbert, future guitarist and principal composer of New Found Glory.
Prior to being stamped Revelation Records-Band, Shai Hulud made his classes on the parallel division Crisis Records, directed by Rob Moran on which released A Profound Hatred of Man, The Fall of Every Man, and the first album Hearts Once Nourished with Hope and Compassion. From that date, the group faced an important turnover of its members. In addition to Oliver Chapoy, the first one to leave was Chad Gilbert, replaced by Geert Van Der Velde, former guitarist from Through to Glass Darkly, who turned to singing and remained in this position until the final split. He was followed by David Silber (bass), replaced by Matt Fletcher around 2000. That same year, Shai Hulud joined forces with Another Victim to release A Whole New Level of Sickness but had to face the start of his drummer Steven Lee Kleisath (this will be back in the game, but guitar this time on the last album). Tony Tintari (ex-Rise Against , ex-The Enemy ) replaced him around 2001. In 2003, Shai Hulud released on Revelation Records That Within Blood Ill-Tempered, which turned out to be his final album, the band deciding to split up a year later. However, reinvigorated by a farewell tour having revealed a certain reputation and a certain attachment of the audience of which they were far from doubting, Matt Fox and Matt Fletcher partially revisited the idea of separation and decided to continue the adventure without Geert Van Der Velde under the name of The Warmth of Red Blood before returning to that of Shai Hulud. Taking advantage of the bounty, Revelation Records spring Hearts Once Nourished with Hope and Compassion and A Profound Hatred of Man in 2006. The same year, the New York band signed with Metal Blade Records.
