Biography

Shapeshifter was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1999. First thought of as an instrumental formation, in which the band is noticed with an EP and a first album, Shapeshifter recorded in 2003 the arrival of a vocalist in the person of Paora Apera (often called P Digsss) who will never cease to gain importance in the sound of - now - quintet. Their music will also evolve: very marked by the influence of the Liquid Funk London sphere, the spectrum of its influences expands from 2006 and the release of Soulstice to lead to a real break in 2009 with The System is a Vampire , an album more varied, mastered and detached from the small world of the Drum & Bass than its predecessors. It is the latter that finally allows the band to export outside of Oceania in 2010 since the prestigious Hospital Records label looks at the case of New Zealanders and signs them for the European distribution of their latest album.
