Shearwater
Biography
Shearwater is actually the side-project of two members of the Texas Okkervil River group. It was formed in 2001 under the impetus of the birdwatch student Jonathan Meiburg (the name of the formation is also the name of a bird) and Will Sheff. Joined in the wake by bassist Kim Burke (ex-wife of Meiburg) and drummer Thor Harris, Shearwater is already releasing her first album, The Dissolving Room, which is then compared to Low or Will Oldham. The quartet followed very quickly with Everybody Makes Mistakes in 2002, before he recorded the arrival of a new member, the multi-instrumentalist Howard Draper. The texans then accompanied Blonde Redhead and Mountain Goats on tour before going back to the studio to shape Winged Life acclaimed in 2004. They will then try the EP exercise with Thieves in 2005 which will precede by a few months their fourth album, Palo Santo , distributed in Europe by Fargo since May 2006.
