Shellac
Biography
Line-up : Steve Albini (guitar/song) Bob Weston (bass) Todd Trainer (battery)
Shellac was formed in Chicago in 1992 by Steve Albini (Big Black , Rapeman ...), Bob Weston and Todd Trainer. Very quickly they record a series of 7-inch vinyls, The Rude Gesture: A Pictoral History, Uranus and The Bird is the Most Popular Finger. The band stands out with a very characteristic and raw sound, recorded in analog and without overdubs. They will even build their own amps, with only one on/off button and one button for the volume. Then released At Action Park in 1994 on Touch & Go, as well as Terraform in 1998 and 1000 Hurts in 2000. The calendars of the three musicians are then always very busy, Shellac is set aside until 2007 which sees the release of Excellent Italian Greyhound. Steve Albini is also well known for his work as a producer, notably for Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Neurosis, Pixies, Fugazi, Godspeed You! Black Emperor or The Stooges lately.
