Shining Sue
Biography
Shining is a group of depressive black metal incorporating many doom elements from Halmstad, Sweden, formed in 1996 by Niklas As its creator wishes to clarify, the name of the band has nothing to do with the book or film of the same name, but simply means the way of enlightenment. The themes addressed in his compositions are mainly suicide and self-destruction. Despite chaotic beginnings and constant line-up changes, the group managed to release a first ep Submit To Selfdestruction in 1998 (released on Selbstmord Services, the label that Olsson founded in parallel, which also produced the first two opus). Although things started painfully, in 2000 and 2001 Shining managed to release his first two albums respectively: I - W ithin Deep Dark Chambers and II - Livet s Andhallplats , with Kvarforth singing and guitar, Andreas classen ( Bethlehem ) as a secondary singer, Tusk on bass and Ted Wedebrand ( Forgotten Tomb ) on drums. Shortly afterwards, Tusk left the band and was replaced by his brother Phil A. Cirone, Jan Axel The band's third album: III - Angst, Självdestruktivitetens Emissarie was released in 2002. In August 2004, while the fourth album IV - The Eerie Cold is scheduled for the following year (and will be released well), Olsson announced the end of the band (John Doe having replaced Inisis in the meantime and Casado ( Silencer ) recruited as guitarist). The separation did not last long since in 2006, Kvarforth announced that he was working on a new album with a completely redesigned line up: Fredric "Wredhe" Gråby and Peter Huss on Ludvig Witt guitars (Spiritual Beggars) on drums and Johan Hallander on bass. While things seem to start for Shining, during the summer of the same year the rumor of the suicide of his leader appears (confirmed by his official website, which nevertheless leaves a slight doubt), Olsson would have visibly disappeared while taking care to leave indications as to the person to succeed him, a certain Ghoul whom no one around the group knows. A new album was announced in early 2007 and for the occasion a concert was held in Halmstad. The performance starts with a staging in which Niklas Kvarforth reappears and limerge Ghoul (played by Attila Csihar de Mayhem ). V - Halmstad (in tribute to his city) the fifth album often considered the best of the band only appeared in April, greatly increasing the band's reputation thanks to the frascs and statements of Niklas. In the meantime good old habits resurface, new movements are recorded within the band, but VI - Klagopsalmer , a sixth album still released in 2009 that breaks with previous albums since largely oriented Heavy-Metal. A new opus, VII - Född Fölorare , is announced for 2011, which includes Erik Danielsson (Watain ) as a guest. Shining continues his musical mutation on Redefining Darkness in 2012 by focusing the acoustic and even jazzy side on certain compositions. In 2015 IX – Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends , still at Season of Mist.
