Sinking Ships is native to Seattle, Washington, and more specifically to the suburbs of Auburn. The band was created in the summer of 2004 by guitarist Paul Bettinson, who previously played in a band named Rosary, and singer Danny Hesketh, who is none other than Jim Hesketh's brother, singer of the late Champion. Paul Bettinson and Danny Hesketh surround themselves with bass player Collin Horn, guitarist Roger Kilburn and drummer Andy Rice, and record a demo that same year 2004 at Excursion Records, then shoot with Shook Ones, Engineer and Yossarian. In 2005, the ep Meridian was released by Run For Cover Records. It features the songs of the demo as well as six new songs. Sinking Ships then plays with The Distance, Youth Attack and Guns Up. In December, the band signed with Revelation Records and as early as February 2006, it appeared on the Generations compilation: A Hardcore Compilation with the song "Turn my Headphones Up". The first Sinking Ships album, Disconnecting , was recorded early that year at Tacoma Autopsy Room (Washington). Produced by Jesse O'Donnell, it was released in July. The band then toured with Comeback Kid , Ignite , First Blood , Down To Nothing and Shook Ones with whom he would come to France in September (Caen). He will also make the first part of a concert by Gorilla Biscuits. Gradually, the band became familiar. Considered a time as Champion's successor, Sinking Ships asserts itself as a full-fledged band, a melodic hardcore old school band with a hint of melancholy and a sound of its own. A promising group, of course. In 2007, Sinking Ships released an ep 7" titled Ten, the last release for the Revelation Records label that the band ended up leaving. He then made numerous tours, including Comeback Kid , Down To Nothing , Shook Ones , Blacklisted and Shipwreck , and played in France with Ruiner (September 2007). Sinking Ships is back to work to compose his third album. At the end of 2007, a second 7", two titles, self-produced, Safe , was released. Having undergone a line-up change, Nate replacing Andy with the battery, Sinking Ships announces to the general surprise, its separation at the end of April 2008. In May, released "posthumously" a split cd with My Love and As We Let Go at Alliance Trax.
