Biography

Skrew came out of Austin's cellars in Texas in 1990, formed by two prominent American industrial actors, still unknown at the time, Andy Grossman and Danny Lohner. The band then turned to an industrial metal not very far from Godflesh and released its first album Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame (produced by Al Jourgensen from Ministry) in 1992 by Metal Blade Records. Danny Lohner then left the ship prematurely and went to Nine Inch Nails, but Grossman stood still and brought back a new keyboardist in the person of Jim Vollentine. Skrew then followed with Dusted , published in 1994 still by Metal Blade. It is then the turn of guitarist Mike Robinson to leave, which does not prevent the remaining members from laying Shadow of Doubt in 1996 affirming increasingly thrash metal ambitions, without really success despite the presence of Bobby Gustafson (ex-Overkill) at the six-string. Barely a year later Grossman managed to stabilize his formation and released Angel Seed XXIII , an album that was descended by the critics and largely blocked by the public. This failure led to the group's separation in 1998. But Skrew reborn from his ashes in 2010, composed of a line-up partially rejuvenated around Grossman, and finally released Universal Immolation in 2014, in self-production this time and in a clearly more extreme vein, adding death and technicality to their industrial thrash metal.
