Biography

Pierre Pettersson: Bass/Chant Chris Tjärnlund: Battery Pat Stenman: Guitar
Once upon a time, in a small town (or not... let's know the size of the city) of Skellefteå, three young Swedish teenagers in the 14 years old, who decide to embark on music. This is Pierre, Chris and Pat. These first two decide afterwards to create a group on behalf of SkumDum . What does that mean? Not much. They thus assemble a multitude of relatively short words in Swedish, and eventually find their happiness. The song will not be English, as do many Scandinavian groups, but indeed their native language. Lyrically speaking, politics has its place as usual, but as for Only Crime, the choice of texts and words plays more on melody than on meaning or message. Recruiting a drummer named Nisse and a world-renowned star named Christian, on guitar, they released their first demo, Pest in 1993, recorded at the studio Strul, as well as a year later, Begar at the Spiff studio, this time without Christian. The style is clearly stated. Following the voice drawn by the Swedish skateboard: short, melodic and extremely fast compositions, leaving no respite to the listener.
As they could not continue on three, they recruited a new guitarist to fill the vacancy. It is Peder (to be pronounced with emphasis...) who will be present on their first CD promo, also released in 1994. After the release of Punkarsel in 1995, also featuring a cover of "Lori Meyers" by NoFX , we witness the first official release of the band, in April 1996, with the EP Lisa , the style remaining roughly the same. The war machine is launched, and it will take a year to see the release of their first album, Demoner in April 1997. Change in line-up in 1998, as Nisse left his post in the drums in the spring, then replaced by the band guitarist Chris. The group then appealed to their childhood friend, Pat, to replace him with a scratch. After an umpteenth promo CD, containing nevertheless very good titles such as "Självuptagen", it is necessary to wait until 1999 to see them reappear with Böld for a Split.
In 2001, Peder left the ship, leaving Linkan the following year. The latter will see the release of 2 albums, with first Kågepunx, Folköl in February, ahead of Det Vi Kan Bäst who is released in September. The latter containing their flagship song "kompatibla", which will later be taken over in English, all accompanied by his video clip, then devoid of any Swedish words and their 'jag skulle vilja gräva ner dig i en grop' sung in choir.
The group decided to continue on its path and to translate some songs into English. As the result amply satisfying them, they undertake that their next opus be fully satisfied. This is how Skum Of The Land is set up. One of the reasons why the group is changing its language is simply being able to get out of the border and turn elsewhere than in Scandinavia. The album was released in 2005 on Morphine Lane Records, with its timeless style of Swedish melodic punk rock, a slightly slower tempo and some ska influences. In 2008, the band became a trio with the departure of Linkan but did not stop the activity by releasing a split with Hero Of Our Time.
