Biography

Oscillating between industrial music and alternative rock, mixing at the mill both Sonic Youth, Godflesh and Swans, SLAB! was an English group originally from Leamington which existed mainly in the late 1980s, early 1990s. It all started in 1986 with Mars On ice , a 12'' vinyl single by Ink Records (under Red Flame's label) which placed SLAB! in the category of bands that only resemble themselves, guys who make rock-indus well groovy by adding saxophone, and funky bass lines bouncing, it appeals, given the time a certain John Peel realized it and invited them to record in his show. From this session will emerge in 1987 Parallax Avenue, this one will later appear on Sign on the Dotted Line , an EMI compilation, as well as on the mini LP (phantom, since no one has ever seen any copy of it) Music From The Iron Lung , will follow Smoke Rings a song of love for nuclear missiles from the army's point of view. Then vain the time of Descension , the band's first album (the one with a blue crocodile on the cover), which completely denotes with the songs published in the preamble, we forget the band, and we leave room for many samples and much more noisey music. In November 1988 SLAB! returns with Sanity Allergy , a second (and last) opus with more metal ball. Separated in 1991 on a Best Of Ship of Fools, the group announced in 2009 to work on new tracks, but for the moment nothing concrete has been created.
