Biography
Slaves On Dope is a band from Montreal, Canada, formed in 1993 by Jason Rockman (Chant), Avrum Nadigel (Guitare), Patrick Francis (Basse), Kevin Jardine (Guitare) and Lenny Vartanian (Batterie). The quintet then played a music largely influenced by the Grunge fully in fashion at the time thanks to the success of Nirvana. In 1995 there were significant changes. Only Jason and Kevin stay in the band. They then recruited Frank Salvaggio (Basse) and Robert Urbani (Battery) and took on a new, heavier and more powerful musical direction. At that time Canada was not very marked by the emerging Neo-Metal scene, so Slaves On Dope moved to Los Angeles to be noticed. They signed an agreement with Divine Recordings, Ozzy Osbourne's label to record their first album, Inches From The Mainline, which appeared in 2000. Slavs On Dope even performed at the Ozzfest that year. However, their label loses its distribution with Emi Records, so Canadians end up without a label until a new agreement with Bieler Bros in 2003. Records. Metafour comes out the same year. Yet in 2004, Jason Rockman left the band and Slaves On Dope splitte. His other members then turned to new projects such as Anew Revolution and The Monarchy. In 2009, Jason reactivates Slaves On Dope with Kevin and then recruits Sébastien Ducap (Basse) and Peter Tzaferis (Battery) to record a third album. Over The Influence is released at the end of 2011.
