Sleeppers
Biography
Sleeppers was formed in 1989 by Laurent Girard (Basse), Fred Girard (Batterie), Emmanuel Bonnaud (Guitare / Chant) and Nicolas Duperroir (Guitare). Originally from Charente, they are now associated with the Bordeaux scene since 1993 evolving in style at the crossroads of Noise, Metal and Hardcore. The band released three demos that culminated in their first album, Illogical Moody Mind in 1995 and first parts of bands like Bastard, Kepone or Today Is The Day. It is soon followed by an ep, Noise Pollution and a second more accomplished album, Subconscious Nocturnal Activity in 1997 by Vicious Circle. The concerts rain with Tantrum , Chokebore , Unsane and Neurosis , then Sleeppers embarks on his first European tour. The ep Adrenalien appeared in 1998 with a long European tour in 1999 leading to an ep Live . After ten years of career, Sleeppers totals more than 600 concerts and releases Cut Off, which marks a turning point in sound production. This new album is also widely defended on the roads (where Raphael Sere replaces Nicolas Duperroir), but the Bordeauxers do not stop there since they create a collective named Trigger to promote the formations encountered on scenes like Burning Heads, Seven Hate or Improvitors Dub. Interaction, their fourth album still recorded by Fred Norguet, appeared in 2003 at At(h)ome. In November 2005, to celebrate their 15 years of existence, they released a retrospective DVD (15.597_Making Noises) gathering the songs recorded during the Interaction tour, but also the entire audio discography and several bonuses. The following year, the group returned with Signals From Elements with the collaboration of Reuno de Lofofora . As usual, Sleeppers is embarking on a tour completed in 2008, to finally tackle an ambitious project: the cinema-concert with the adaptation of Dr Jekyll&Mr Hyde by J.S. Robertson. In 2010, the project for a new album was launched and Sleeppers worked on its creation for almost 9 months. Keep Focus is finally released in 2012 at At(h)ome.
