Smashing Pumpkins
Biography
Formed in 1988 in Chicago the Smashing Pumpkins released their first Gish album in 1991, little success as Nirvana explodes in world charts. The group is going through a phase of depression and doubt. In 1993, Siamese Dream came out and met immense popularity. But despite this success, and especially Billy Corgan, remains depressed. Pisces Iscariot (compilation of rare titles) was released in 1994. The band gradually found itself and released in 1995 the double album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness , a play directed in the discography of the band. In 1996, during Mellon Collie Jonathan Melvoin's tour, the keyboard used for the tour died of an overdose while Jimmy Chamberlin did not escape. He was then fired from the band and replaced for the tour by Matt Waker ( Filter ). In 1998 the band released Adore and Jimmy joined the band. In 2000 Machina: The Machines Of God was released, which will be their last real album, after the tour (with Melissa Auf Der Maur (ex Hole ) at the bass) for this CD the band split and will release Machina II The Friends and Enemies of modern music on the Internet. Billy Corgan set out to play Zwan with Jimmy Chamberlin, after an album by the band, too. James Iha joined him at Perfect Circle and Melissa Auf Der Maur went solo. In 2007, the band reformed on the base Corgan / Chamberlin, and released an album, Zeitgeist, with a mixed reception, an Ep American Gothic in 2008 and announced the upcoming release of a multi-album concept over several years.
