Silkwork appeared on the music scene in 1996. The following year, the band recorded a first demo where Peter, guitarist and co-founder of the band, played the bass games himself. The demo pleased Micheal Amott ( Arch Enemy ) who passed the recording to War Music, a Swedish label. But before War Music could sign them, a French label, Listable Records, offered them a contract they decided to accept. After some changes in line-up (keyboard, bassist), the band released its first album at Listable Records : Steelbath Suicide . The band matured and then created a sound of its own, thanks to the presentation of the guitars as well as the impressive speech flow of the singer who earned him his nickname of "Speed". The success was at the rendezvous, then, following some replacements within the band, the band recorded its second album The Chainheart Machine in 2000. It is the turn of Century Media Records to offer a deal to the band to release these two opus on North American territory. But finally Silkwork believes he is mature enough to take control of his future, following tours in Europe and Japan. This resulted in a signature with Nuclear Blast which distributed A Predator's Portrait in 2001; Just a year later, Natural Born Chaos was released, benefiting from the mixing work of Fredrick Nordstrom and Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad) and ensuring a great critical success. The Swedish band then embarks on a new tour alongside In Flames, as well as Pain. 2003 saw the edition of Figure Number Five and a return to the sources from the quintet, followed by a series of concerts, notably in France, alongside Children Of Bodom. In 2005, Silkwork returned with Stabbing The Drama. On this album, Dick Verbeuren ( Scarve ) is behind the drums and the artwork is directed by Mircea Gabriel Eftemie (Mnemic ). But it was that same year that Peter Wichers decided to leave the training to devote himself to his family life. The band still decides to continue the adventure without him and arrives with a new album to the success in half-tone, Sworn to a Great Divide , during 2007. Ola Frenning also left early 2008 for similar reasons. Fortunately in September of that year, Peter returned to Silkwork and then composed the album The Panic Proadcast, which was released in August 2010.
