Biography

Solitude Aeturnus is one of the oldest Doom formations still in operation and, if it is not as well recognized as it deserves, it is still considered one of the best of its kind, thanks to a traditional epic Doom of the most beautiful. It all started in 1987 when John Perez (guitar) left Thrash Rotting Corps. Fan of Doom, he recruited musicians, including Kris Gabehart (song), Tom Martinez (guitar), Chris Hardin (bass) and Brad Kane (battery), and thus formed Solitude. It was only two years later that the surname of the group would grow, becoming Solitude Aeturnus. A first demo appeared in 1988 under the title of And Justice for All... . For the anecdote, Metallica's album of the same name will be released seven months later. After a few concerts and many changes within the band, the following line-up will be held until 1996: John Perez & Edgar Rivera (guitars), Robert Lowe (sing), Lyle Steadham (bass) and John Wolf Covington (drums). A new demo was released in 1989, allowing the band to sign at King Klassic Records. This deal ended, after a lot of adventures, with the release of a first album in 1990, Into the Depts of Sorrow. Roadrunner Records flicks the right shot and quickly signs the band, and in 1992 a second album landed, entitled Beyond the Crimson Horizon . Following a six-week tour across the United States, the withdrawal of Roadrunner Records, a signature at Pavement Records, and a move to England. Through the Darkest Hour , the band's third album, was released in 1994. The popularity of Solitude Aeturnus is growing, and this is realized with a US tour with Mercyful Fate followed by another in Europe with Revelation. The training will then take a long break until 1996. During this period, Perez set up his Brainticket Records label and released a solo album under the name The Liquid Sound Company. Then, back to the U.S.A. and released a new album entitled Downfall , acclaimed by critics but considered by the band as a big hit. Lyle Steadham left the band shortly afterwards to found Killcreeps and Ghoultown . Teri Pritchard will be acting for the tour with Morgana Lafey, but no replacement will be found, and the band enters a new period of hiatus, followed by a break with Pavement Records. Steve Moseley was finally recruited in 1997, the band signed with the Germans of Massacre Records, and Adagio released the following year, an album that the band considered his most candid success. Until 2006 nothing significant: each one goes to his own occupations, Steve Nichols (battery) and James Martin (bass) are recruited, a live DVD is recorded and will be released the following year, the albums are reissued, in short nothing until the release of a new album, entitled Alone . Meanwhile, Robert Lowe joined Candlemass, but remained involved in Solitude Aeturnus.
