Soror Dolorosa
Biography
Soror Dolorosa is a group from Post-Punk / Coldwave / Rock Gothic oroginary of Toulous and founded in 2001 by Andy Julia (Battery - Celestia , Darvulia , Mutilation , Black Pest ...). He is surrounded by Hervé Charles (Basse), Franck Ligabue (Guitare) and Christophe Guenot (Chant). The band's name comes from the novel Bruges-al-morte written by Georges Rodenbach and which means "loveful of pain" in Latin. The band recorded a demo that would never be released, and then in 2003, Emey Moulay replaced Franck on guitar. A second demo is recorded, but doesn't show. After a few concerts the band splits in 2005, but reforms two years later and it is also at that time that Andy Julia devotes himself to singing, leaving the place of the drums to Franck Ligabue. Soror Dolorosa is noticed by Todestrieb Records with whom they release Severance, their first ep. With the help of Snow ( Alcest , Amesoeurs ), they come into contact with Northern Silence Productions which allows them to release their first effort, long format, Blind Scenes , via the Beneath Grey Skies division. It was recorded in August 2010 at the Drudenhaus Studio (The Cnk, Alcest, Les Discretes, Warsaw, Necroblaspheme ...) and appeared in 2011. Emey left the band in 2012 and was replaced by Nicolas Mons. They returned with No More Heroes in 2013, allowing them to perform several concerts in France but also in a few European countries such as Germany and Portugal. Soror Dolorosa is nevertheless quite discreet and it is necessary to wait until 2017 for them to come back with Apollo , their third album released by Prophecy Productions. The German label reissues their previous releases in the same year.
