Stance Punks
Biography
Tsuru: Kinya singing: Tetsushi guitar: Kaki bass: drums
Formed in '98 in the Tokyo suburbs by Tsuru and Kinya, the Stance Punks made their first appearance only the year after the addition of Tetsushi and Kaki in the line up. They make a local reputation by playing on various roofs in the Shimokitazawa district. These performances will give its name to their first CD, a live recorded on those same roofs in 2000. After a pair of national tours followed a first eponymous EP, springboard to a complete eponymous album in 2000; Opus finished in sixth place in the Japanese charts. This exhibition opens a few doors abroad when one of their songs, "Mayonaka Shounen Totsugekidan", closes the film Battle Royale 2 .
Over the course of the tours in Japan, the quartet continues to compose (Let It Roll, 2004) and signs on a young sub-division of Sony Music, Kowalski Records. The DIY turns into a comfortable distribution that allows Howling Idol to sell rather well. Additional boost, one of their songs, "No Boy, No Cry" makes the opening of the anime Naruto and revives an international interest for the band all relative.
In '08, the quartet celebrates its 10 years of existence (and almost as many singles) with an immutable line-up; They will make for the occasion the closing theme of the anime Soul Eater (chanson "I Wanna Be) and will release a second DVD, this time live. At the end of the year a new album is published: Peace & Destroy ., still at Sony/Kowalski.
