Static X
Biography
Static-X is part of these bands a little bit off of nothing. Wayne Static (chant/guitar) and Ken Jay (battery) after some unsuccessful experiences in several bands meet and decide to play together. Very soon joined by Tony Campos (bass) and Koïchi Fukuda (guitar) the formation foams clubs and bars and gets noticed by Warner who will sign them and allow them to release their first effort Wisconsin Death Trip a few months later, running 98. Tripp Rex Eisen (guitar and also member of Murderdolls ) will replace Koichi during the composition of the second opus released in 2001 : Machine . 2003 saw another line-up change, with Ken Jay leaving the band to be succeeded by Nick Oshiro (former Seether drummer). In 2005 Tripp Eisen was incarcerated for very serious events, when the band saw Koichi's return to the guitar. The shadow of a new album comes with Shadow Zone and the beginning of a new crusade in 2006 with Start a War. Static-X then reached the peak of its glory in 2007 for the release of Cannibal, and many of the films and video games of that time when the Wisconsin band appeared. It was at that time that Wayne Static, in a somewhat tense atmosphere with his band members, announced that he would launch his solo career. The combo will still release its sixth studio album in 2009, and one of its greatest hits on Billboard, Cult of Static. The band then scored a first break in 2010, due to a conflict between Wayne Static and mainly Tony Campos. The singer then continued his solo career while the bassist, who had already served in Ministry since the death of Paul Raven joined Max Cavalera in Soulfly. In 2012, the band announced that it would be re-forming for a tour, but only Wayne would be part of it, accompanied by Diego Ibarra, Andy Cole and Sean Everett. In June 2013, for rights issues and because Wayne and Tony are unable to find common ground, Static-X's end was officially announced. Just over a year later, on November 1, 2014, Wayne Static was found dead in his home in California as a result of an overdose. In 2018, the only remaining right, Tony Campos, joined by the original formation (Koichi and Ken Jay) decided to reactivate the machine. Before his death, Wayne had left a lot of voice recordings that were never released before. The group will make the choice of starting from these as a starting point and will release in 2020 Project Regeneration, Vol. 1 . Live is Xer0, a singer wearing the mask of a reanimated Wayne Static version that officialises behind the microphone. Having a voice naturally close to Wayne's, he recorded missing vocal parts in the studio. Although the singer's real identity is well known, he does not want to be credited because he wants all this to remain a tribute to the late singer. Project Regeneration, Vol. 2 will be released at the end of 2023 and it will be the last opus on which we can hear the voice of the founder of Static-X.
