Stone Sour
Biography
Stone Sour was formed in 1992 on the initiative of singer Corey Taylor and drummer Joel Ekman. They were joined a while later by bassist Shawn Economaki, a friend of Taylor's. Until 1995, the trio followed the guitarists of the passage, until Jim Roots joined them. But in 1997 Corey Taylor left Stone Sour to join Slipknot. Jim Roots will follow him a year later, ending Stone Sour. In 2000, guitarist Josh Rand approached Corey Taylor and showed him his compositions. Taylor is packed and after a year and a half of work decides to reform Stone Sour with its original members. The band released an eponymous debut album in 2002 and met with some success due to the popularity of Taylor and Roots after Slipknot's Iowa card in 2001. It takes four years for Stone Sour to start releasing a record again. During his recording, Joel Ekman learned that his son was ill and decided to leave the group to look after him. Roy Mayorga (ex- Soulfly) recorded the unfinished battery parts before officially joining the band in May. Stone Sour's second opus is Come What(Ever) May and is released in 2006. It was also four years later that he was followed up with Audio Secrecy. With Slipknot in indefinite hiatus after Paul Gray's death in 2010, Corey Taylor is fully involved on Stone Sour. The band then decided to release a double album concept entitled House Of Gold And Bones, the first part of which was released in late 2012 and the second in early 2013.
