Biography

Scott Weiland (chant) met Robert DeLeo (bass) in 1987 at a Black Fag concert in Long Beach. They decided to form a band, named Mighty Joe Young, by recruiting Dean DeLeo, Robert's brother, on guitar, and Eric Kretz on drums. It was only three years later that the group took the name Stone Temple Pilots. In 1992 the band signed at Atlantic Records and released the album Core , which was named "best first album" by Rolling Stones magazine. Two years later the band recidivated with Purple , which began directly in the first place of the American charts. After that was the beginning of the fall, Weiland was arrested for possession of drugs and had to undergo a detoxification cure. As soon as he was released, Stone Temple Pilots recorded Tiny Music: Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop. But Weiland was not completely healed and was unable to make the tour. He had to spend a weekend in prison and do six months of detoxification. Meanwhile, the remaining three members sought a new singer and founded Talk Show, which will lead to nothing. When he was released in 1998, Weiland recorded a solo album, 12 Bar Blues, and went on tour. The future of Stone Temple Pilots therefore seemed very dark at the time, but Weiland returned to the band in 1999 to record No. 4 . But Scott's demons were still there and took him to the hospital because of an overdose, and then back to jail and cure. It was released five months later and the band was able to record Shangri -- La Dee Da in 2001. It was a failure, and apart from a Best-of, Thank You, we no longer heard about the band. In 2003 there were rumours that Scott Weiland would join former Guns N'Roses Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. These rumours came true, and the group formed under the name Velvet Revover . When the other members found a group again in 2005. Eric Kretz joined Spiralarms, and the DeLeo brothers partnered with the singer Richard Patrick de Filter to form Army of Anyone. Five years later the water sank under the bridges and the members of the band gradually rabbied to the point of re-forming themselves during a tour. At the same time Scott Weiland scrambled with Velvet Revover, leaving the former Guns. Now Stone Temple Pilots is once again a welded band and is preparing a new album for 2010.
