Sublime
Biography
Sublime was a trio of Long Beach, California, active from 1988 to 1996. The leader of the band, Bradley, son of musicians, made his first weapons in a band named Hogans Heroes when he was only 13 years old. In 1991, they released on their own label Skunk Records, freshly assembled, their first K7 Jah Won Bud Gaugh takes a rehab tour as they prepare to leave for the first time on tour. In 1992, the first studio album, the already huge 40oz to Freedom (released more than 60,000 ex). Unfortunately, Bradley Nowell plunges slowly into heroin, supposedly stimulating her creativity, but above all allegedly blaming her problems of "trouble deficit of attention". Its consumption of Marijuana also remains one of the highlights of the group's life. In 1994, the band released Robbin的 The Hood, an album called "experimental" (with a few moments of glory, as on the cover of Barrington Levy originally "Shes Mine" and here became "Saw Red", sung in duet with Gwen Stefani of No Doubt). In 1996, the album Sublime (originally called Killin, It) was released on MCA Records on July 30, 1996, but posthumously. Bradley Nowell was found dead in his hotel room on 25 May 1996 following an overdose of heroin at the age of 28. Incinerated, his ashes are poured on his favourite surf spot and a tombstone is erected at the Westminster Memorial, California, on which he is mentioned "Now At Peace". This is the beginning of the Sublime myth. Bradley left behind his wife, Troy Dendeker, with whom he had married the previous week. He also leaves a child barely a year old, Jakob James Nowell and the sadness of millions of fans. Not to mention the one who had become the mascot of the band, Louie (in reference to the name of his grandfather), his Dalmatian dog, whom many people saw walking on stage in full concert, or during studio recordings, on the covers of the band's albums. On "What I Got", Bradley sings "Livin, with Louie Dog, the only way to stay sane". Louie died on September 17, 2001.
The album sells more than 5 million copies, and is the biggest rock board in 1997. The same year, an augmented edition comes out with new features and B faces.New album title, Second-hand Smoke . The line is exploited to the maximum, which many fans of the first hour regret. The following year, the release of the Live, Stand By Your Van (1998) reveals the incredible potential of the group and the quality of the group. Rhythmic base close to genius, improvisation, passion, mood. This live sweats the love of reggae and punk. Also in 1998, a compilation that fills fans, presents Sublime in an "Acoustique" context, with friends. ( Bradley Nowell & Friends ). Three other more or less interesting compilations from previous albums and releases are punctuating the last decade, 1998 – 2008. Sublime receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His two friends, Eric and Bud, formed Long Beach Dub Allstars much later.
The band, still today, enjoys an incredible community of fans, whose main quality remains the open mind and passion for music.
