Surrounded formed in the year 2000 in Vaxjo (Sweden) on the initiative of Marten Rydell (Chant/Guitare), Marcus Knutsson (Guitare), David Schagertrom (Claviers), Erik Edwardsson (Battery) and Tom Malmros (Basse). The formation claimed influences such as Pink Floyd , Simon & Garfunkel , and Neil Young , and was later noted on volume 9 of the compilation The Emo Diaries edited by Deep Elm Records ( Logh , LastDaysOfApril ,...). Judging by the previous parenthesis, Surrounded is therefore not the first Swedish band to be published/distributed by Caroline's label that will take over the release of their first album, Safety In Numbers , released in 2003. The Swedes will follow four European tours between 2004 and 2005, with David Schagertrom being replaced by Erik Gustafsson on keyboards, and Erik Edwardsson by Johannes Linder on drums. Once these changes have been made, the combo will try to compose and box its second effort, The Nautilus Years (2007), this time edited by One Little Indian (Asobi Seksu , Underground Railroad , ...) and Make My Day Records ( Sunday Driver , Saint Thomas , ...).
