Biography

Sylvaine is a multi-instrumentalist Norwegian musician of her real name, Kathrine Elizabeth Shepard, who started her very personal project in 2013 in Oslo. A first album was released the following year, Silent Chamber, Noisy Heart, where music consisted of an ethereal, light and dreamlike Blackgaze / Post-Rock. A few typical Black Metal songs are scattered here and there, but the clear and melancholy voice predominates. The musician is spotted by Season Of Mist and a second album appeared in spring 2016, Wistful, and the style of the project is confirmed by being in the continuity of the previous record and in a vein inspired by Alcest. Sylvaine is a one-woman band in her composition, but she is accompanied by live musicians on stage after Wistful's release. Atoms Alined, Coming Undone and Nova are still at Season Of Mist in 2022 where the project is growing in scope and popularity. In 2020 a split with Unreqvited named Time Without End was also published and between 2016 and 2022 Sylvaine also appeared on albums by Alcest, Ison, Møl and Carpenter Brut.
