Texas Is The Reason
Biography
Garrett Klahn: Song/Guitare Norm Arenas: Guitar Scott Winegard: Bass Chris Daly: Battery
Texas is The Reason , it is the meeting of four musicians whose goal was to separate themselves from a hardcore scene a little too "macho". Norm Arenas (ex- Shelter ), Scott Winegard (ex- Fountainhead ), Chris Daly (ex-108 ) and Garrett Klahn (ex-Buffalo's Cooper ) agree on this name referring to the lyrics of a Misfit song: "Bullet".
The quartet quickly released a first EP, which will spark a huge enthusiasm in the emo underground scene. Later, their meeting with The Promise Ring will generate a CD split released on Jade Tree. '96 and finally arrived their first production by J. Robbins from Jawbox: Do You Know Who You Are? A second impact whose title pays tribute to John Lennon. Despite the Majors' proposals, Texas is The Reason maintains its contract with Revelation, and runs in the United States alongside the no less influential Sense Field. Finally the tensions within will be right for the New Yorkers in '97.
From this separation will arise several projects. Garrett Klahn will form New Rising Sons, while Chris Daly will take the chopsticks at Jets to Brazil. Scott Winegard, meanwhile, will produce a few bands, and will have some fun with Helmet and Chamberlain members, in a new formation: Americans.
Concerning Norm Arenas, he will take a 3-year break to refine his musicality, especially as a DJ. Then, accompanied by Scott, with whom he kept contact, he will form New End Original, which also includes the former Far singer, Jonah Matranga, as well as Chamberlain's drummer. NEO will release only one album, Thriller; for their part, New Rising Sons will release two EP's before separating. Only Jets To Brazil continue their little roadman, ruling as one of the major groups of the current emo US scene.
