Biography

The Tempest was formed in 2004 in Montreal on the initiative of Danny Marino (guitar), Chris Kells (bass) and Alissa White-Gluz (chant). The music of the trio is directed towards metalcore, melodic death metal and deathcore. The band renamed The Agonist in 2007 and recruited Simon McKay to record a first effort. Once Only Imagined does its little effect: the vocal abilities of the singer, who masters both the growls and the clear singing (her palette goes as far as the lyric although she uses it little), allows the group to pull her pin from the game in the metalcore scene rather crowded. Apart from the musical performance, Alissa White-Gluz is one of the "Hotest Chicks In Metal 2007" according to Revover magazine, which still brings visibility to Quebecers. In 2009 Lullabies For The Sleeping Mind released, accompanied by two clips and a new nomination of the charismatic singer by Revover. The band is still gaining popularity. Pascal "Paco" Jobin, a second guitarist, joins the adventure first for live, then very quickly permanently. In 2010, The Agonist played for the first time in Europe during his participation in the Metal Female Voices Fest in Belgium, with among others Epica, ReVamp, but especially Arch Enemy ... A third album was released in 2012: Prisoners . While keeping their melodic metalcore sound, the band reinforces the melodic death metal component, thus offering an album a little more difficult to identify but more mature. Two years later, Alissa White-Gluz announced that she succeeded Angela Gossow in the post of yeller in Arch Enemy, and that she left The Agonist to devote herself to the Swede group. Vicky Psarakis replaces her, always in a register alternating the clean song and the screaming song. The Eye Of Providence album was released in early 2015.
