The Besnard Lakes
Biography
Coming from Montreal, Canada (the homeland of the "rock savers" - The Arcade Fire - according to the Inrockuptibles, just that!), in the early 2000s, The Besnard Lakes was a quintet named after a Saskatchewan lake.
If a first album, Volume I , comes out in 2003, the fame comes with ... Are The Dark Horse (2007) who see them named for the Polaris Prize the year of its release (winned by Patrick Watson , this year). Recorded with their compatriots from Stars and Godspeed You! Black Emperor , the record reveals the talent of writing and arrangement of melodies that refer directly to the psychedelic rock of the 1970s and the Shoegaze movement of the early 1990s.
Their third album, ... Are The Roaring Night , was released in March 2010. Again, they were awarded an appointment for the Polaris Prize that year.
