The Birthday Massacre
Biography
It all started in 1999 in London, Ontario, two childhood friends: Rainbow (guitar and programming) and Falcore (guitar) met Chibi (chant) and Aslan (bass) in high school and decided to form Imagica (joined in the middle of the following year by Dank - a Chibi friend - a live keyboardist). After several months of writing and rehearsal, they played for the first time in concert on October 28, 2000 at the Diversity night club in London and recorded a demo of seven tracks. The following month the band was joined by O.E. as a drummer. In 2001 the band moved to Toronto (Dank cannot follow the band), and recorded a new demo. Shortly after the band adopted The Birthday Massacre as a new name. It was in July 2002 that Nothing and Nowhere released the first album (self-produced). In 2003 after O.E.'s departure, Rhim (also met in high school) joined the group in the position of drummer and Adm took the vacant place of keyboardist. In July 2004 the band released Violet a nine-title EP, at the end of the year re-records Nothing and Nowhere and also sees Adm leaving the band to devote himself to personal projects. At the same time TBM signs with Repo Records for distribution in Germany and re-registers an LP version of Violet (self-produced) with more titles. The following year Metropolis Records signed the band and released Violet for a wider broadcast. The band then engaged Owen as a keyboardist and toured across Europe. In August 2005 Blue released a DVD featuring the making of Blue's video, scenes filmed behind the scenes, a Nevermind studio video as well as live videos of Video Kid and Violet. During the first half of 2006, Canadians will tour North America and a new trip to Europe. A year later, in July 2007, Aslan went and was replaced by O.E., who thus returned to the band but this time so as bassist. TBM then started working on a new opus (walking With Strangers that will be released in September) attended by Dave "Rave" Ogilvie ( Skinny Puppy , Killing Joke , Queensrÿche ...). He will follow a tour in Europe during which the Hamburg concert will be filmed and will give birth to a live album as well as a DVD with both the name Show and Tell . In May 2008, Looking Glass EP (second single from the album) was released to promote this new album, and the Canadians will be performing with bands such as Combichrist and Mindless Self Indulgence , and will tour Australia for the first time. In May 2009 the CD version of Show and Tell arrives in the bins and will be followed by the DVD (in October for Europe and in February of the following year for the United States). September 14, 2010 Pins and Needles , their 4th album , was released after shooting during the summer in the first part of Otoe . According to the Group Manager, he is currently working on an EP that is expected to be born in the summer of 2011.
