The Darkness
Biography
Formed in the early 2000s in the Suffolk, The Darkness builds its reputation in live, with a mix of hard ACDC and Queen-style rock, while wearing extravagant chammered outfits, and despite all this is hard to interest record companies, because of their style that is not "serious enough". They eventually signed at Atlantic Records in 2003. Success is on the table, and Permission To Land runs at 1.5 million copies in the UK alone. The band toured intensively, their European concerts being quickly complete due to a massive purchase of seats for their English fans who followed them everywhere, and two years later they handed over the cover with One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back . The album sells less well but the band continues to surf the buzz generated by its first album. But in 2006, the band went to stand-by when its singer Justin Hawkins was admitted to rehab. When he was released, he set up his own band, Hot Leg , which was unable to break through, while the other 3 members of the band, including his brother Dan Hawkins, created Stone Gods , which followed the same destiny. In March 2011, The Darkness reformed with the original line-up and began a long series of concerts including a participation at the Download Festival. In 2012 the band released Hot Cakes and went on tour to ensure the first part of Lady Gaga! In the fall of 2014, the band met in studio. The drummer Ed Graham left the band and was replaced by Emily Dolan Davies, who participated in the recording of The Last Of Our Kind, but left the band in April 2015, before the release of the album. The band's new drummer is Rufus Tiger Taylor, son of the less famous name Roger Taylor, drummer of Queen.
