The Faint
Biography
Originally from Nebraska, The Faint was staged in 1994 by Todd Fink, Clark Baechle, Joel Petersen and Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), who left the band quite quickly. Crashed by the grunge sounds of their time, the kids scum for a long time the bars and punk clubs obsessed with the idea of finding a sound that matches them, in vain.
Nevertheless, the band signed on Saddle Creek (label created by Conor Oberst) and released its first album, Media , in 1998, collection of indie rock songs written between 1996 and 1998. Unsatisfied with their compositions, which remain too common to their liking, the group has the right idea of integrating keyboards in order to give their sound another dimension. This is how Blank Wave Arcade came out in 1999, largely influenced by the electro of the 1980s and its dancy sounds. It's a happy period for the band that does not hesitate to experiment and refine its stage game, increasing its reputation. Desiring to go even further and conquer the discotheques ('The real dance clubs must play our songs'), the band (rejoined by the guitarist of the band Death Metal Lead, Dapose who joins the band) released Danse Macabre in 2001. Combining the raging guitar riffs with increasingly catchy electro sounds, this album is that of public recognition and criticism for the band, which also shows its ambitions to make the world dance at extravagant shows.
In 2004, The Faint released Wet From Birth, still evolving and moving this time towards a more rock, less electro sound. After four years of absence, the band returns to present its fifth album, Fasciniatiion in the summer of 2008.
