The Gloria Record originated in the late cult formation from Austin, Texas, which is Mineral (1994-1997; "Gloria" from the indispensable The Power Of Failing) and the desire of two of its members, Chris Simpson and Jeremy Gomez, to pursue their adventure in a new, more ambitious project. The duo then enlisted Brian Hubbard and Matt Hammon. The now quartet released a first single, "Grace, The Snow Is Here", on Crank! Records ( Cursive , Fireside , LastDaysOfApril ,...) in autumn '98. Then a first eponymous EP that sees the addition of Ben Houtman to the keyboards, exploring new musical orientations; a recruitment that precedes the departure of Matt Hammon, replaced by Jeremy Tappero (Warning , Gratitude , The Stereo ) for the upcoming U.S. tours, Brian Malone ( House And Parish ) then taking his succession full time. Spring 2000 saw the release of a second EP, A Lull In Traffic (" Tired And Uninspired"), still at Crank!. Two years later, TGR finally released its very first full-length, Start Here , this time at Arena Rock Recording ( Pilot To Gunner , Calla , ...) before working on the writing of its successor, unfortunately put in suspense due to the hiatus of the band (spring 2004). Since then, Chris Simpson, leader and fiery thinker-Mineral and The Gloria Record, has embarked on a new path with Zookeeper, while Jeremy Gomez and Brian Hubbard are dedicated to The Glass Family.
