The Jesus Lizard saga came to life in Texas in 1987. Officer in Austin Scratch Acid , David Yow and David Wm. Sims is moving to Chicago after the split. After a time of latency during which Sims played with Rapeman, he partnered with Duane Denison ( Cargo Cult). Yow joins the singing acolytes. The Jesus Lizard was born. First performing with a rhythm box, the trio included the drummer Mac Neilly for head recording in 1990. After the release of Goat a year later, Liar's release in 1992 pushed The Jesus Lizard to the top of the poster. The band crossed the Atlantic and embarked on a second European tour. The split with Nirvana even gives him the opportunity to participate in the show Top Of The Pops. The Jesus Lizard continues its ascent with the release of Lash in 1993, following an appearance at the Reading Festival. The band made the headlines of the Melody Maker and was in the lead of the charts after his Astoria concert. Down is the latest album for Touch & Go. During the transition, David Yow tried filming in the film Walls in the City, whose soundtrack was written by Denison Kimball.
The Jesus Lizard made the big jump in 1995 by signing with Capitol Records, a deal that caused the break with Steve Albini. The group appears in Loolapalooza. Two years later, Mac McNeilly packed for personal reasons, replaced by Jim Kimball who made his debut on the eponymous produced by Andy Gill (Gang Of Four). Blue will also be in 1998. On the following tour, Brendan Murphy replaced Kimball but The Jesus Lizard splint in 1999 after a concert in Sweden.
The separation consumed, we find Denison in Tomahawk and in a project with Paul Barker, U.S.A. In 2006, Yow and Sims reform Scratch Acid for the 25 years of Touch & Go but the adventure ends there. David Yow now plays in the band Qui .
