The Knife

The Knife is an electronic duo made up of Karin Dreijer Andersson the sister and Olof Dreijer the brother. They released their albums on their own Rabid records label, founded in 1998 with members of their former Honey Is Cool band. Rather discreet the band refusing to look public or hidden behind strange masks, yet won the Swedish grammy award for the best pop band in 2003 and in 2007. However, it was not until 2005-2006 that the band gained a reputation outside its borders, Silent Shout became a bestseller and the webzine Pitchfork actually his album of the year, and it would be re-edited a year later with an extra DVD that contained the images of their very first show in London in 2005. In 2008, the band explained its participation in the writing of an opera entitled Tomorrow, In A Year, which is a tribute to Darwin's Origin of Species, 150 years ago. If there is not yet news, for the moment, about the release of a new album, Karin Dreijer has had a very critical and public success with Fever Ray. 2013 after a big teasing worthy of the biggest commercial productions, The Knife is back with his most experimental opus Shaking The Habitual , in the name evocative this one will be represented on stage by controversial performances having divided the fans, a playback show composed in large part of dances and choreographies, in fact the duo tired by the world of electro wanted to denounce among other things the deception that the concerts of the stars of the discipline hidden behind a computer on stage represent for them. Karin and Olof announced at the end of August 2013 in Dazed&Confused Magazine that they will put an end to The Knife after the last concert of the tour that will take place on November 8 at the Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavík.
