The Lawrence Arms
Biography
Chicago was the birthplace of the 3 'leftists' of The Lawrence Arms in 1999. Their name comes from a real estate complex located in a disadvantaged area of Chicago where they lived for a while. They were expelled in the middle of the night. Their music and their messages are very quickly calling Mike Park, boss of the Asian Man Records label (and member of the Chinkees) since the latter had already released their records when they performed in The Broadways and Slapstick . It will release in 2 years 2 albums of the band + 2 split CDs. In '02, Fat Wreck Chords offers TLA the opportunity to shoot more (especially in Europe) and release a first album entitled Apathy & Exhaustion on the label. Supported by their new second home, the trio gained popularity and confidence to assert itself with The Greatest Story Ever Told (September 2003).
After many tours and a well-deserved rest, the album of b-sides, rarity, unreleased etc Cocktails & Dreams is released in autumn 2005, announcing the release in spring 2006 of the trio's new album: Oh! Calcutta! , which allows them to return to Europe alongside No Use For a Name .
