The Mars Volta
Biography
Like a phoenix, The Mars Volta was born from the ashes of the talented and inspired combo of El Paso, Texas, At The Drive-In. The musicians of this band split in two in 2001 to create on one side Sparta and on the other, so, The Mars Volta. We find ourselves at the head of this latest Cédric Bixler and Omar Rodriguez Lopez (respectively singer and guitarist in At The Drive-In) and their insatiable creative appetite. Because we were able to see that the two lurons do not really have any limits to their inspirations, the Defacto experience had already been the proof, just like the various solo projects of Omar (B.O., making films...). After a media threshing on the arrival of this project, 2002 saw the creation of an EP: "Threat", remained confidential. However, it was mainly thanks to stunning stage performances that the group was able to convince and return the following year, in 2003, with their first real production, "Delused in The Comatorium", by Rick Rubin. Defining their music proves to be arduous as the research and composition work is above average. The angry shadow of At-The Drive In front of the psychedelism of a Pink Floyd, or a King Crimson, not to mention the Latin roots of our two musicians. As a result, any attempt at reduction is futile.
In 2005, the band returned to us with "Frances The Mute", a true completion of a reputation of UFO music and pure talent. And now we know that we are in the presence of a very large group of friends, so let's enjoy it! Several albums follow, Amputecthure , The Bedlam In Goliath and Octahedron , still as talented, on which musicians refine their music and explore even more musical horizons.
