The Microphones
Biography
The Microphones is Phil Elvrum. The first works of the native of Anacortes (USA) are made with the help of old materials in the back of the storehouse where Elvrum works. Some time later, these collages eventually attracted the attention of the label K Records (Old Time Relijun , Modest Mouse , Build to Spill , etc.) which released its first album, Tests , in 1998. From then on, Lo-fi frenzy captured Phil Elvrum, who wrote almost one album a year (Don't Wake Me Up 1999, It Was Hot, We Stayed in The Water 2000, The Glow Pt.2 in 2001).
Hand-held guitar, The Microphones travels the roads, inviting friends and musicians around the microphone on stage and in studio. Elvrum's music is above all a sharing of emotions that vary on simple melodies and lyrics full of images. The Glow Pt.2 is to date the album that has won the most public success, true declaration of life and kaleidoscope of feelings. The rest of The Microphones' career will only be a deepening between folk and fuzzy riffs. In 2003, Mount Eerie will resume where the story of The Glow Pt.2 had stopped, closing the loop, sealing the songwriter's story through five inspired and pictorial pieces.
The Microphones dies. Mount Eerie was born.
