The Neal Morse Band
Biography
The Neal Morse Band was created in 2014 by Neal Morse (you didn't see it coming) who recruits Randy George (Ajalon ) to bass and the famous Mike Portnoy (ex Dream Theater , Transatlantic , Metal Allegiance , The Winery Dogs ...) to drums, two loyal companions with whom Neal Morse used to release his solo albums. But if the main protagonist plays all the guitar, keyboard, and singing parts in addition to dealing with the composition during albums released under his name alone, he is more in retreat in this group. Indeed, Neal Morse shares guitars and singing with Eric Gilette, and keyboards with Bill Hubauer. In addition, writing is also shared: the quintet enters the studio without any outline of any title, and the composition is done five in very short time. This way of doing is new to Neal Morse, the logical title of the album that follows is The Grand Experiment. He was released in early 2015. In 2016, the band released Alive Again , a double-album live in which almost all of The Grand Experiment was performed, but also a number of tracks from Neal Morse's previous solo efforts. Three months after the release of this live album, it is the turn of the second studio album: The Similarness Of A Dream. It is a double album of more than one hour forty-five, based on John Bunyan's novel The Pilgrim's Journey. All tracks are again written five. He will also serve as the basis and pretext for a new live double album: The Similitude of a Dream - Live in Tilburg 2017 . The album is played in full as well as some other tracks. The main interested returned to the trio band (with Randy George and Mike Portnoy only) to release a new album under the simple name Neal Morse, in 2018: Life&Times. Then back to the quintet band since The Neal Morse Band released the double album The Great Adventure in January 2019.
