Biography

The New Pornographers, named after The Pornographers, a Japanese film directed by Shohei Imamura, is a Canadian band that evolves between independent rock and power pop, and its members are Dan Bejar (Chant), Kathryn Calder (Chant, Claviers), Neko Case (Chant, Guitar), John Collins (Guitare, Bass), Kurt Dahle (Chant, Battery), Todd Fancey (Guitare), Carl Newman (Guitare, Bass) and Blaine Thurier (Claviers), the majority of them already had a significant musical experience before starting the adventure, and almost all have (musical or not) parallel projects. To date the band has released 5 studio albums: Mass Romantic (2000), Electric Version (2003), Twin Cinema (2005), Challengers (2007), and Together (2010), all except the first one are at Matador Records, a live from 2006 is also available, but only on its site or at the Merchandising table during the concerts, the majority of the titles are written by Newman and Bejar, and it is once this phase is over that it is decided what each will sing.
