The Old Dead Tree
Biography
The Old Dead Tree is a band founded in Paris on 18 February 1997. The initial line up includes Frédéric Guillemot on drums, Vincent Danier on bass, Manuel Munoz on guitar and singing, and Nicolas Chevrollier on guitar. The band created its own style from the beginning, a mix of Metal, Dark Rock, and Pop. He began to make himself known during the release of The Blossom, a four-track demo, and by demonstrating their talent on stage. Frédéric committed suicide on 2 August 1999, and was replaced by Franck Métayer. Then came the release of their first album, The Nameless Disease , in 2003, in which all the songs are dedicated to Frédéric. Franck then left the band in 2004, replaced by Foued Moukid. Their second album, The Perpetual Motion , was released in 2005 and still extends the band's musical spectrum. The Old Dead Tree makes the first parts of Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Opeth or Samael. Nicolas left the group in 2006 to devote himself to his private life then replaced by Gilles Moinet. The band laid a last discographic brick in 2007 with The Water Fields, but Foued left shortly after taking care of his other Arkan project. Raphaël Antheaume takes up the role of drummer, but the band dissolves at the end of 2009 due to internal tensions, notably on the musical orientation of a fourth album that will never see the light of day. In early 2013, The Old Dead Tree met to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Nameless Disease with a visit to Hellfest 2013 .
