Biography

Hugo - Song Pablo - Bass Fred - Guitar Louis - Guitar Rich - Batterie Marc – Guitar

The group formed in 99 in the midst of gutter cats and itinerants who pee along the disused hangars; first under the name of Concrete Fongus, before opting in 2000 for The Sainte Catherines (named one of Montreal's main arteries). After selling over 1000 copies of their very first album, Thoses Stars Are For You, they sign with the independent New York label Eyeball Records (Thursday, H20) and sell over 2000 copies of the EP, The Machine Gets Under Way, in a single year. After a multitude of changes within the band, the formation The Sainte Catherines is finally composed of 6 musicians, including 3 former members of a legend of the Montreal ska-core, the Rollerstarter group. In 2002, their first album, Those Stars Are For You , was re-launched in Europe by the German team Yoyo Records (The Ataris , Useless ID ). In 2003 The Art Of Arrogance was released on the Montreal label Dare To Care Records, which this time earned the attention of Fat Mike himself. Two years later, the combo signed with Fat Wreck Chords (as the first Quebec band) and released the album Dancing for Decadence, which they described as "Motley Crue who would take a bath with Tragedy while Hot Water Music yelled with Leatherfece on the state of punk rock in 2005." Note that 5 of its six members (with the exception of Marc) play in parallel in the group Yesterdays Ring.
