The Spirit Of Versailles is a hardcore screamo band from Souix Falls (Dakota, USA) active between July 1998 and October 2001. The combo played its first concert in September, shortly after its formation, with At The Drive-In . John Theis quickly replaced Matt McFarland on the battery and the band recorded a series of 7" including 2 splits alongside Saqqara and Rise From Ruin. At the end of 1999, following the departure of Tanner Olsen, Eric Evenson took up the guitar while Tim Jewell of Saqqara took up the position of bass player. The group will keep this line up until 2001. In 2003, a double posthumous CD was released bringing together all the titles (29 in total) of The Spirit Of Versailles. Members of The Spirit Of Versailles also played in Caligari, Examination Of The... , In Loving Memory , Eclipse Of Eden and The Hareste . Today, part of the line-up is active in the excellent Across Tundras .
