Biography
Formed in 1998 by Julian Casablancas (chant) and Nikolai Fraiture (bass), The Strokes are very quickly noticed by the record companies thanks to the media buzz generated by the group within the bourgeoisly hype New York. Joined by Albert Hammond, Nick Valensi & Fabrizio Moretti, the quintet quickly recorded an EP titled The Modern Age . A few months later they released their first opus Is This It?, a cult album unanimously acclaimed by the press. Their chic pop with various influences (from Television to Velvet Underground) allowed them to sell more than a million copies. After a disappointing Room On Fire, the band returned in 2006 with the very good First Impressions Of Earth.
