Biography

Coming from Bristol's scene, The Third Eye Foundation is the creation of a single man, Matt Elliott, former member of Flying Saucer Attack and Amp. The first EP, Semtex , released in 1996, saw the first wave of apocalyptic beats, the approach of which was at first reminiscent of Throbbing Gristle . His electronic manipulations, far from serving the dancefloor, invokes a dark dub, reinforced by the "a-normal" use of classical instruments ("crises" of lo-fi guitars, for example). Ghost (1997) sees English gradually sinking into the abyss: guitars are abandoned in favor of an electronic whole, mixture of tribal and hazelnut, an alarming impression confirmed by his last album before the trove, Little Lost Soul, in 2000. Then, 10 years of absence, during which Matt Elliott uses his talent and travels to the East to develop his solo project. Released from nowhere, The Dark is the 6th album by 3EF, released in September 2010. Far from exorcising all his demons, he pursued the same crooked path as his predecessors.
