This Is Hell

This Is Hell was born in June 2004 in Long Island, New York, thanks to the singer Travis Reilly, who played in Scraps And Heart Attacks. He surrounds himself with the bassist and guitarist of the band Subterfuge, Johnny Moore and Rick Jimenez, as well as Dan Bourke of The Backup Plan, on drums. The quartet is then joined by a second guitarist, Chris Reynolds, former partner of Reilly at Scraps And Heart Attacks. This Is Hell released its first demo in 2005 at State Of Mind Recordings. The band was immediately noticed by Trustkill Records, where it signed at the end of the year. In May 2016, the result was a first album, Sundowning , produced by Dean Balutlonis (Sick Of It All , No Warning ) and whose artwork was signed Jacob Bannon ( Converge ), which received remarkable criticism. The formation then followed splits (in 2007 with Cancer Bats, in 2008 with Nightmare Of You ) and EPs (Cripplers in 2007) until the release of Misfortunes in February 2008. Recorded and mixed by Joe Concotta and Dan Kenny at the Full Force Studio, mastered at the West West Side Studio by Alan Showers, this second LP is part of Sundowing's continuation, as is the EP Warbirds released the following year. It was with Weight Of The World in 2010 that the first Thrash influences were heard, style that the New York band fully embraced the Black Mass album in 2011 and the EP The Enforcer 2013. It is at this time that four of the current members of the formation (only the singer Travis Reilly does not participate) mount a side-project of pure Thrash, Extinction A.D. , which gradually becomes their main occupation. It is only in 2016 that This Is Hell returns to the front of the stage with Bastards Still Remain album surprise, recorded and mixed in one day, on May 8, 2016, with producer Brett Romnes to celebrate the 10 years of Sundowing. In complete break with their previous productions, this fifth album marks the abandonment of the Crossover Thrash. Former Hardcore band playing Thrash, This Is Hel l can now be considered a Thrash band playing Hardcore.
