Biography
Thrones is nothing less than Joe Preston's solo project, a bassist in many prestigious doom and assimilated formations. The native of Salem, Oregon is credited "among other things" on the album Extra-Capsular Extraction by Earth , Lysol by Melvins , Altar and both White by Sunn O )), Blessed Black Wings by High On Fire , several CDs by Godheadsilo or Mens Recovery Project . In parallel with this stunning career, Preston worked on his own creations from 1994 under the name of Thrones. His first album, Alraune, was released in 1996 on The Communion Label. A few singles later, in 2000, Preston/ Thrones will bring together two EPs within a single record. It is Sperm Whale and White Rabbit, both merging to become soberly Sperm Whale/White Rabbit. A new release will be released in 2005 at Southern Lord, a compilation of demos and rarity under the title Day Late, Dollar Short.
