Thy Art Is Murder

Thy Art Is Murder is an Australian Deathcore band from Blacktown, Sydney. The band was formed in 2006 and was originally composed of Brendan Van Ryn, guitarists Gary Markowski and Sean Delander, bassist Josh King and drummer Lee Stanton. Members recorded a three-track demo entitled This Hole Isn't Deep Enough For The Twelve Of You . They returned to the studio in 2008 to record their second EP titled Infinite Death, which gained attention thanks to Van Ryn's misogynous tracks and lyrics.

After two years of endless international tours, Van Ryn left the band because of creative differences and lack of evolution in their Death Metal sounds. His departure was announced in 2008. A year passed before Thy Art Is Murder found a new singer who is none other than Chris "CJ" McMahon, from the band Metalcore Vegas In Ruins. Members are impressed by his growl at his hearing and he is immediately accepted. Bassist Mick Lowe replaces King shortly before recording the new album The Adversary, released in 2010. Following their second European tour, the Australians signed with the Nuclear Blast Records label in 2013 for the worldwide distribution of their new Hate Opus. In June 2015 appears Holy War, third studio album of the formation. After a start against heart in 2016, and having been replaced on the tours by Nick Arthur, singer of Molotov Solution , CJ McMahon cracks and returns to his own to record Dear Desolation in 2017. Shortly before the release of Human Target in July 2019, the fifth Australian opus, it was announced that Jesse Beahler was replacing Lee Stanton's vacant battery position.
