Biography

Born November 1966 in California, Tim Armstrong is an icon of punk rock. After having been, with his childhood friend Matt Freeman, one of the members of the now mythical Operation Ivy, a pioneer group of punk/ska, he is currently recognized as the leader (song and guitar) of Rancid.
Tim Armstrong has always been very active at the musical level, from his youth between alcoholism and poverty. Matt Freeman would have thought of founding Rancid so that Tim could do something other than drink. The characteristic tone of his voice would also be related to his high consumption during adolescence. He founded a side-project in the late 1990s, titled The Transplants, with Rob Aston and Travis Barker (ex-Blink-182 , +44 ), which will release two albums. He also supported Lars Frederiksen (co-singer and co-guitarist of Rancid) in his solo project Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards . He was also the subject of rumours mentioning him as a replacement for Joe Strummer for a reformation of The Clash, rumours quickly denied. Several less conventional collaborations also took place with Pink, Gwen Stefani or Kelly Osbourne.
He launched himself into a solo career in 2007, with the album A Poet It contains ten titles with strong reggae and ska influences, Armstrong having recorded with the band reggae The Aggrolites . The disc is accompanied by a Dvd containing ten videos, one for each song.
