Biography

Tomahawk formed in 2000 under the impulse of Mike Patton ( Faith No More , Mr Bungle , Fantomas , etc...) and especially Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard ), the creative soul of the band. Denison hastened to get Helmet's ex-beater, John Stanier (now Battles), while Patton took care of bringing Kevin Rutmanis (The Melvins, The Cows). Their first album, soberly titled Tomahawk and produced by Joe Funderburk, was released in 2001. The second, Mit Gas , was born in 2003, the two being naturally published on Patton's label, Ipecac Recordings. Tomahawk has performed many concerts around the world in the United States, Europe, Australia and Japan. Although the quartet was mostly in the lead, it also performed the first part of groups such as Tool . The four lits participated in the Ipecac Geek Tour with Fantomas and Melvins, as well as the Big Day Out Festival in Australia. A third album called Anonymous will be released in 2007, still with Ipecac, drawing inspiration from Native American culture and containing, among other things, covers of traditional Indian songs. 2013 and Oddfellows will mark the long-awaited return of Tomahawk , replacing Rutmanis (now unmanageable on tour) for Mikey's old buddy, Trevor Dunn ( Mr Bungle , Fantomas ) . Apart from two songs laid out in 2014 it will take 2021 to see the new album, Tonic Immobility . Duane Denison - Guitar Mike Patton - Song/Machines John Stanier - Battery Kevin Rutmanis - Bass (2000-2007) Trevor Dunn - Bass (2012-)
