In 1986 Treponem Pal was born in Paris as an industrial metal company, with Marco Neves (song), Michel Bassin (guitar), Fergusson (bass) and David Lebrun (battery). The band subsequently recruited a second guitarist, Laurent B., and recorded his first eponymous album on the label Roadracer, specialist in thrash metal. For two years, Treponem Pal scales to anyone who wants to hear it his hardcore morning of industrial music, tribal rhythms and groove, creating a growing cohort of fans across Europe and sharing the poster with confirmed formations such as Prong or The Young Gods. In the early 1990s, Parisians benefited from the interest in neo-industrial music generated by the Chicago Wax Trax label, as well as by groups such as KMFDM, Front Line Assembly or Meat Beat Manifesto. Treponem Pal undergoes a new overhaul during the recording of his second album Aggravation . Fergusson was replaced by Stéphane Cressend, and David Lebrun by Didier Serbourdin during the studio sessions. The album is a revelation and attracts like national and international media flies. In subsequent years, the success of indus derivatives was not denied. Thanks to Scorn, Godflesh or Pitchshifter, Treponem Pal gets more than deserved recognition for being invited to the Loolapalooza alongside Ministry. Also the third album, Excess & Overdrive , produced by Franz Treichler (The Young Gods ) proves to be a success but does not enjoy the support that the band is entitled to expect from a label like Roadracer. Divorce is consumed in 1995. This resulted in a period of questioning, which resulted in a fairly intense turn over of Treponem Pal members. Amadou Sall (futur Collapse), who had replaced Stéphane Cressent just before the recording of Excess & Overdrive, gave up his place to Fergusson, a temporary return since he would join shortly after Mass Hysteria, and Laurent B. left to form Hoax. Marco Neves and Michel Bassin then turned to Goran Jurevic (low) and Didier B. (sampler) with whom new titles are composed. The signature at Mercury/Polygram gives Treponem Pal a new impetus. Higher was recorded in 1997 by Sasha Konietzko (KMFDM ) at the Bad Animal studio in Seattle. The new album, much more groovy than the previous ones, is a success but after 13 years of good and loyal services, Treponem Pal feels the need to blow. Invested in the label project dub Hammerbass since 1995, Marco Neves decides to make a rather reggae-oriented album under the name of Elephant System which will succeed several participations in various projects.
The desire to regain more raw sensations tickle Marco Neves in 2006. With his acolyte Didier B., he reactivates Treponem Pal , starts composing again and surrounds himself with a new team with as a stated goal a tour of the 2007 festivals that should be punctuated by an album early 2008 in which Ted Parsons ( Prong , Jesu , Godflesh ) and Paul Raven ( Killing Joke , Godflesh , Prong ) participate.
