Twelve Foot Ninja

Country: Unknown
Styles: Djent Metal Progressive Reggae

Biography

Behind this strange band name is 5 Australian youth from Melbourne, who evolve in a somewhat special style of music: the reggae-metal-but-not-only. In fact, Twelve Foot Ninja very often embellishes its compositions with very apreciable technical passages, salsa, electro or rock steaky. Their music is a pure concentrate of energy, alternating djentized tubes and refreshing reggae. They released a first EP in 2008 (New Dawn ) and a second EP in 2010 (Smoke Bomb ), both hailed by critics. Their first album was released in 2012 ( Silent Machine ), mastered by Howie Weinberg ( Deftones , Nirvana , Jeff Buckley ). The 12 compositions of this first LP are released one by one, in 12 weeks, each time with a comic board featuring the title (visible here). Some notable guests come to give a hand on Silent machine, including Mr. Bungle's Bär McKinnon at the Saxophone and Cat Empire's Ollie McGill (Rock Steady) keyboard. Line up : Kin - singing Steve "Stevic" MacKay : guitars Damon McKinnon : bass Shane "Russ" Russell : drums Rohan Hayes : guitars
