Biography
Oliver Goater - Jamie Saint Merat Guitar - Paul Kelland Battery - Bass / Song Michael Hoggard - Guitar
Ulcerate was born in 2000 in New Zealand as a trio composed at the initiative of Jamie Saint Merat and his colleague Michael Hoggard. A time called Bloodwreath , the band became Ulcerate and, following some lineup changes, released two self-produced and self-funded demos in two years. The now quintet is quickly noticed and, while writing is underway for a first album, both demos are reissued within the same record in 2006. The same year, the band signed with Neurotic Records but lost its vocalist James Wallace, when recording the fruit of his work and it was therefore Ben Read who performed this role for Of Fracture and Faure. The album receives an excellent welcome and the band finds itself sharing the scene with some of the big names of the extreme such as Nile, Suffocation, Behemoth or Cephalic Carnage. This, however, does not prevent the group, always led by Jamie Saint Merat, from taking the decision in 2008 to change again by voluntarily returning to four members. Paul keelland, bassist of the band, takes up the position of singer, his vocal tessesiture corresponding more to what Ulcerate was looking for, and Michael Hoggard gets him the position of second guitarist after the recording of the second album: Everything is Fire. Darker and with a strong artistic footprint, the record is again very well received when released in April 2009 via Candlelight Records. Set as a Swiss watch, the band announces its return for spring 2011 with The Destroyers of All , a new album of seven tracks that should lead them to continue their work of destruction as a continuation of the work already begun in recent years.
