Uncommonmenfrommars
Biography
The story of this group begins despite appearances in the United States, and more precisely in Washington DC, when 3 members of the same family came to the world, Ed, Trint and Daff. It was only in the early 1990s that they placed their suitcases on French soil at Serrières in the Ardèche and met Big Jim. The adventure can then begin. Making use of all their accumulated influences so far, from skateboarding to punk-rock music that is inseparable, influenced by the great layings of the era, they launch their combo named Uncommonmenfrommars and start spinning around. The first turnaround in the career of our young Frenchies will take place during their victory at the Teil springboard in 1997, allowing them to record a cake. Their first effort, an eponymous EP published a year later, was relatively successful. After sharing the poster with some great French names such as Burning Heads on a French tour, and aware of their potentials, they start recording a new model with the aim of approaching record companies. And it's the jackpot with Wagram in 1999, which will result in the release of Welcome To... in 2000. Things became serious and the band, after a participation in the Eurockéennes in Belfort in 2000, went back to the United States to record their first album at the Motor Studio, fief of the entire Fat Wreck click, and under the leadership of Ryan Greene. Vote For Me came out in 2001 and obtained a correct success and then came a French tour to crown it all with Dionysos . Apparently tired of spinning, the Uncommonmenfrommars decide to take a break... At least that's what it looks like, because at the end of the day, one of the epic Kill The Fuse , recorded in Chicago by Steve Albini in 2003, finds himself against what they were doing before. An album that will surprise some, at the same time strengthening the reputation of the latter. The following year, the entire band returned to the United States with an identical team to record the real successor of Vote For Me, Noise Pollution. An album that will want to be more mature, slower, more subtle. They only need one thing, a live DVD. Being recognized for their stage game, they had to immortalize all this on video and it was done with the release on CD in 2004, and DVD in 2005 of Live On Earth. Then followed their departure from Wagram the same year and a split with the papys of the French punk-rock, the Burning Heads on Incredible Rock Machine, the beginning of a cooperation between the two groups that will lead to a joint tour of 50 consecutive dates in 2006. Barely tired, the four happy lurons fly again for the United States, not in California but in Arizona this time, to find once again Ryan Greene for the recording of Scars Are Reminders , self-produced by their own UFO Prod box. 2008 will be the year that will see the release of Longer Than An Ep, Shorter Than An Album, by Kicking Records.
